ABOUT CHEF JESS
Chef Jess' story began with one defining moment that shaped the foundation of her business.
The moment occurred when her father was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. He was coming from work and passed out while driving. Luckily, someone noticed and called 911. He was admitted into the hospital with a blood glucose level of 400, which is 4 times the normal limit. Witnessing his struggle ignited a determination within her: to make a difference through culinary and nutrition expertise. With unwavering commitment, she shifted her focus from working as a classically trained chef in the culinary arts industry to culinary nutrition, embarking on a career as a registered dietitian. Her father became her first, and undoubtedly most challenging, client. Through their collaborative efforts, he achieved remarkable results – losing half of his body weight and transforming into a marathon runner.
Over the years, her journey has evolved from her humble beginnings as a private chef to the establishment of her very own kitchen, to her current occupation as a culinary nutrition expert and consultant. Chef Jess' dedication to nutrition education has led her to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and one of the few persons of color to become an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Professional (IFNCP).
Today, she stands dedicated to unlocking the transformative potential of culinary nutrition. She has collaborated with Prevention Magazine and Hearst publishing to author her first book and has been featured on numerous television, print and radio media outlets with powerhouse companies such as The Food Network, The Today Show, Sirius XM’s Doctor Radio, O Magazine, Essence and many more. She was also chosen as Unilever’s “Agent of Change” and has represented Ocean Spray Foods new healthy initiatives. She looks forward to collaborating with you to create a powerful synergy between your brand and the transformative world of culinary nutrition.
